Please note: I keep a limited number of openings for clients using insurance. Please reach out to check if an insurance spot is available. Once these spots are filled, I am only accepting private-pay clients.
I am currently in network with Aetna, Cigna, Anthem BCBS, United Healthcare/Optum, and Kaiser. For all other insurances, I am considered an out of network provider.
If you are covered by insurance that is not listed above, I can support you in getting connected with Thrizer, a company supporting clients get reimbursement for therapy with their insurance. When there is a consensus that we are a good fit to work together, we can start this process.

There are obvious benefits to using your insurance including affordability and convenience. However, many clients are not informed about the benefits of using private pay services instead. I have listed a few things to consider when choosing a private pay therapist below:
Using your insurance benefits requires you to have a diagnosis that permanently becomes part of your medical record. When you see a therapist via private pay, a diagnosis is not necessary for you to receive services.
Receiving services is not dependent on medical necessity. Medical necessity requires a diagnosis and for this to diagnosis to have a moderate to severe impact in your life. However, sometimes your current challenges may feel mild right now but serious enough for you to want to address it before it gets to this point. When you choose to see a private pay therapist, you don’t need to struggling “severely enough” to receive support. You can simply just be seeking support and that is enough to receive services.
You have more privacy and confidentiality when you receive private pay services as your therapist is not required to submit confidential information about your treatment to your insurance company.
Some insurance plans limit the frequency and length of treatment so choosing private pay therapy gives you more flexibility on receiving the length of treatment that truly meets your needs and create deeper long-term goals rather than short-term symptom management.
Seeing a private pay therapist also gives your more access to holistic and integrated care that does not need to billable to insurance.
Choosing private pay can be an investment in yourself and your mental health. Many clients find that being personally responsible paying for their sessions encourages greater accountability, engagement, and focus on their goals.
Private pay therapy is FSA/HSA eligible

My approach to therapy is gentle, relational, trauma-informed, and rooted in social justice. I integrate attachment theory, inner child work, somatic and nervous system awareness, and mindfulness to help you settle into this new version you are becoming—not just in your thoughts, but in your body and relationships.
Together, we explore how early relationships, family dynamics, and larger societal systems have shaped how you relate to yourself and others, while also focusing on what helps you feel more grounded and supported in your day-to-day life. I weave in gentle somatic practices and DBT-informed skills to support nervous system regulation so that you stop feeling like you are in survival mode and begin enjoying and thriving in this new chapter in your life.
-
The first session is a gentle beginning. It’s a space for you to share what’s been feeling heavy and for us to start making sense of what you need most right now. I’ll ask some questions to understand your story, your current challenges, and what you hope to find through therapy. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out — this is where we begin to piece things together, slowly and safely.
-
You can meet with me virtually, in the comfort of your own home. I use a HIPAA-compliant video platform to ensure privacy and can see clients who reside anywhere in California.
I can also meet in-person at a walking/stroller friendly location in San Mateo County.
-
In-person sessions are currently walk and talk therapy only. I do not have an office at this time to hold office sessions. Instead, in-person sessions can be held in walking friendly locations in San Mateo County— such as a local park or trail.
These “walk and talk” sessions don’t need to happen every time; we’ll decide together when it feels most supportive. Some clients prefer alternating between in-person and virtual sessions depending on their week or needs.
Walk and talk therapy can be especially helpful for individuals who feel restless, overwhelmed, or stuck in their thoughts. Moving your body while talking can help release tension, regulate your nervous system, and make the therapeutic process feel more natural and embodied. Many clients find that walking side-by-side rather than sitting face-to-face allows for openness and vulnerability.

Preparing Your Relationship for Baby is an offering designed to support the emotional and relational shifts that come with pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. This work recognizes that welcoming a baby impacts not only the individual, but also the relationship, communication patterns, and emotional connection between partners or support people.
There are two ways this support may be offered, depending on your needs and goals:
Joint Sessions
Joint sessions invite your partner or support person into the therapy space while you remain the primary focus of care. These sessions are not couples therapy. Instead, they are designed to strengthen understanding, communication, and emotional attunement as you navigate this transition together. Joint sessions may be scheduled occasionally or integrated throughout your individual therapy journey when it feels supportive.Short-Term Couples Therapy
Some couples choose short-term couples therapy as a way to focus more directly on their relationship. This option offers more focused support around communication, emotional connection, and navigating the shift to parenthood together. This work is time-limited and centered on preparing your relationship for the changes ahead, rather than ongoing couples therapy. If I see that ongoing couple’s therapy is a better fit, we can discuss and explore how to move forward. You are more than welcome to reach out and discuss which form of therapy is the best fit for you.
-
You can absolutely bring your baby to session. Please note that some mental health treatment such as trauma work may be limited with your baby present. We may have check ins about how the therapy process is feeling with your baby present and decide if we need to make adjustments.
-
I ask clients to give me a 24 hour notice of cancellation prior to your scheduled session. Late cancellation or missed appointments are subject to full session fee being charged.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
